Morning Tai Chi Sessions at Armenian Park are conducted by John Hanna and Veronica Greer.

JOHN HANNA

John began teaching in 1994 after two trips to study at the Beijing Sports University in China ( in 1992 & 1994 ).

Over almost 3 decades he has trained with some of the world's leading Tai Chi Masters including Chen Xiao Wang, Tang Lai Wei, Shao Zhao Ming, Zhao Wei Dong, Liu De Ming, Zhu Yu Ming and Gao Jian.

From 1997, he  trained for 10 years with Master Lim Lai Leong in Penang, Malaysia.  Master Lim emphasized the martial aspects of Tai Chi and was strict on adherence to correct principals.

Also in 1997, John was selected as a member of the Australian Tai Chi team which competed at the 4th World Championships in Rome.

He was 1999 Australian National Seniors Champion.

In the same year he founded Tai Chi Plus in Melbourne and operates the school there with help from some excellent Instructors

John was Vice-President of the Wu Shu and Tai Chi Practitioners Association ( WTPA ) for 4 years. He has also been a judge at several Championships.

From 1999 – 2005, John, together with partner Veronica Greer, organised the Marysville Tai Chi Retreats which brought tai chi enthusiasts and teachers together from around Australia to share their Tai Chi knowledge.

In 2007, Master Lim Lai Leong became too ill to continue teaching. “He had been the biggest influence on our school’s Tai Chi and he will always remain as my most respected and loved teacher.”

More recently John has been training both on-line with Sifu Adam Mizner from Heaven, Man, Earth Tai Chi and in person with Paul McIntyre, a senior Instructor in the HME system.

VERONICA GREER

Veronica began her Tai Chi journey back in the early nineties under the guidance of the legendary Tasmanian teacher, the late Margaret Young. Veronica often says how lucky she was to have such a teacher at the outset. Without Margaret, she doubts whether Tai Chi would have inspired her as much as it did.

Veronica is a former leading actor of both stage and television in England and Australia. Her love of human movement and expression no doubt attracted her to Tai Chi and her sense of the dramatic saw her specialize in showy forms like the Fan and Sword.

Veronica Greer Penang

From 1998 – 2007, Veronica was a student of Master Lim Lai Leong in Penang, Malaysia. Since then she has trained with Master Gao Jian in Melbourne and Master Zhao Wei Dong in China.

Veronica won Bronze at the 2000 National Championships and was a Gold Medal winner at the 2002 Kung Fu / Tai Chi Games in Melbourne.

She was co-coordinator of the Marysville Tai Chi Retreats and was Treasurer of the WTPA for two years.

Together with partner John Hanna, she founded the company Relax Asia Tours which takes regular groups to Malaysia and China for Tai Chi training and sightseeing.
